UCSB Finishes Seventh at Braveheart Classic

BEAUMONT, Calif. - Joe Ryon shot a 1-under par and led the Gauchos, finishing pus-5, while Greg Wells came in at plus-8 as the UC Santa Barbara men's golf team came in seventh out of 20 teams at the Braveheart Classic In Beaumont.
The Gauchos, who finished 26 strokes off the lead, shot a 294 in the opening round, followed by a 301 and 296 in rounds two and three, respectively.
Ryon finished in a tie for 17th-place, while Wells and Marty Melcher were knotted at 29th.
Melcher, who struggled shooting a 76 in each of the first two rounds, bounced back to shoot an even 72 in round three and finished at 224. Darren Schwartz shot a 130 and Tony Verna shot 231 to round out UCSB finishers.
UCSB returns to action Monday, March 13 when it travels to the Farms Golf Course in San Diego for the Farms Collegiate Invitational.
