WESTLAKE, Calif. -
UC Santa Barbara's golf team shot a first-round 285 and was second in a star-studded field, but the Gauchos couldn't hold on, finishing with an 887 and a 17th-place finish at the Cleveland Golf Classic at the Westlake Country Club.
Paced by Jeff Linklater and Brian Six, who shot 69 and 70 respectively in the first round, UCSB trailed only Arizona State after the first 18. The Gauchos, however, shot a 305 in the second round and a 297 in the final round to finish at 887.
Linklater led UCSB with a solid 217 and a 23rd-place finish. Six finished at 219 in a tie for 35th-place. Nick Telliard shot 222 and tied for 54th, Greg Wells hit a 230 and tied for 84th, while Jeff DiTullio shot 239 to finish 90th.
