Golf's Jeff Wood Prepares To Compete In NCAA Regional

Santa Barbara, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara senior golfer Jeff Wood is set to compete in the NCAA West Regional at Corvallis, Oregon beginning Thursday.

Wood, who was named Big West Player of the Year after winning the league's individual title, will play 18 holes on Thursday, 18 on Friday and the final 18 on Saturday.

"Jeff has been playing very well," said UCSB head coach Steve Lass. "He has raised his level of play at just the right time. This is an great field of players and Jeff is ready to give them a battle."

In addition to his title at the Big West Championships, Wood finished seventh at the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz in April, and he won the Oregon Duck Invitational in Eugene in March. He is averaging 72.80 shots per round on the year, but in the last 12 rounds that figure is an even more impressive 71.00. Wood has shot six sub-70 rounds this season, including a pair of 65s, one of which came at the Big West Tournament.
