CHICAGO, Ill. - U.S. Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has added former UCSB standout and current D.C. United midfielder Chris Pontius to the roster for the match against Costa Rica on Sept. 2 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Pontius and Jonathan Spector have been added after FC Dallas defender Zach Loyd and Chivas USA defender Heath Pearce withdrew due to injuries.
Pontius is making his second appearance in a U.S. national team camp after participating in the January camp in 2010. The midfielder will be looking to earn his first cap.
The match against Costa Rica kicks off at 8 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN2 and Galavision.
While Pontius is busy in Southern California this weekend, the UCSB men's soccer team will head to the right coast to play in the Duke/Nike Classic. The Gauchos will face host Duke on Friday, Sept. 2 before facing NC State on Sunday, Sept. 4.
