Golden Scarf Ceremony Set for Nov. 4 Cal Poly Game

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UCSB Athletics is proud to announce that this year's "Golden Scarf" ceremony will take at halftime of the highly-anticipated men's soccer match against Cal Poly on Friday, Nov. 4.  The contest will be televised by Fox Soccer Channel.

This year, several individuals will be awarded a Golden Scarf for their dedication, passion and commitment to UCSB, the sport of soccer and/or the community. In the last two years, over 20 loyal Gaucho soccer fans received their scarves at marquee games against UCLA and Indiana.

In addition, Golden Scarves will be awarded to members of UCSB's 2006 NCAA College Cup National Championship team, recognizing the fifth anniversary of the squad's title run.  Both celebrations will take place at halftime of the game.

Golden Scarf nominations are now being taken online for this year's honor. To nominate someone you feel is worthy of recognition, click here.

The soccer scarf has long been a symbol of unity and support for teams around the globe, and Gaucho fans - the most passionate and enthusiastic in the country - have made the scarf a tradition at Harder Stadium.

In Santa Barbara, Fox Soccer Channel is on Cox Digital channel 265, Direct TV channel 619 and Dish Network channel 149.

Tickets for the game against Cal Poly can be purchased from the Ticket Office in the Intercollegiate Athletics Building on campus, by calling 805-893-3428 or online by clicking here.
