Forward Ema Boateng was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman First Team it was announced today. The honor comes on the heels of his All-Far West Second Team, TopDrawerSoccer.com All-Freshmen First Team and Big West Freshman of the Year honors.
Freshman Ema Boateng and senior Nic Ryan each earned 2012 NCAA Division I All-Far West Region honors it was announced on Sunday. Boateng was named to the Second Team while Ryan garnered Third Team honors.
The UC Santa Barbara men’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Cal Poly on Saturday evening at Alex G. Spanos Stadium during the second of two Blue-Green Rivalry matches between the teams this season.

Given the seriousness of the incident that occurred following the conclusion of UC Santa Barbara’s men’s soccer match on Sunday, the student-athlete involved has been removed from the team, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Mark W. Massari announced Monday. Massari also stated that, regardless of the outcome of Wednesday’s game at Sacramento State or Saturday’s game at Cal Poly, UCSB will forego any opportunity for postseason play this season. Finally, as head coach, Tim Vom Steeg has been suspended for the game at Sacramento. Assistant coach Greg Wilson will serve as acting head coach.
