Gaucho Soccer Set to Air on AM 1290 for Fourth Straight Year

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara Athletics and its multimedia partner Nelligan Sports Marketing are proud to announce that 12 Gaucho men's soccer regular season matches and all postseason contests will be aired live on AM 1290, KZSB, the Santa Barbara News-Press Radio Station, as well as on-line at UCSBgauchos.com.

UCSB men's soccer broadcasts began airing in 2009 and 2012 will mark the fourth straight year that the matches will be carried on AM 1290.  The Gauchos currently offer more soccer broadcasts than any school in the nation.  Gerry Fall, the Voice of the Gauchos, will call all the play-by-play and will be joined at home matches by veteran Santa Barbara News-Press sportswriter and columnist Mark Patton.

The broadcast schedule will start with UCSB's Sept. 21 showdown against UCLA and will include all 10 Big West Conference matches plus the Oct. 26 home contest against Stanford.  All broadcasts will begin 30 minutes prior to kick-off and will include interviews with Gaucho players and coaches as well as all the facts and figures of the match.

In addition to the radio coverage, all UCSB home games will be streamed live on BigWest.TV and can be accessed at no charge by logging on to BigWest.tv.

Talk'n Gauchos, the weekly radio show devoted to all things Gaucho, will make its 2012-13 debut on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 6-7pm on AM 1290.  The show, hosted by Gerry Fall, will once again be broadcast live from the Beachside Bar & Café on beautiful Goleta Beach.  Fans are encouraged to attend the broadcasts where they can enjoy regular Talk'n Gaucho menu specials.

UCSB, which is ranked 11th in the nation, opens its season with an exhibition game against crosstown rival Westmont College on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 7:00 p.m. in Harder Stadium.  That match will be broadcast on-line at UCSBgauchos.com with the video streamed at BigWest.TV.

Season tickets for Gaucho soccer are available for a little over $3 per game and would guarantee a ticket for the Sept. 21 game against UCLA, which is trending as a possible sellout.  For information log-on to UCSBgauchos.com, call 805-893-UCSB (8272) or visit the Ticket Office in Intercollegiate Athletics Building on campus.
