• Home Sweet Home
After opening the 2012 campaign with three consecutive games on the road, UC Santa Barbara will finally return to the friendly confines of Meredith Field at Harder Stadium to host its official 2012 home opener against Valparaiso this Friday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. The match will directly follow the UCSB women's game against Oregon State, which is set for a 5:15 p.m. kick-off. On Sunday, the Gauchos will play Mexican First Division team Pachuca in an exhibition match at Santa Maria High School.

• Watch, Listen, Chat!
This Friday, UCSB Athletics will launch its "Gameday Central" pages, which serve as a one-stop-shop for fans that want to link to the live video and audio streams of UCSB men's soccer, women's soccer and women's volleyball home contests. The page will also allow fans to link to each game's Live Stats and the men's soccer coverage will feature a live chat open to fans. To visit the men's soccer Gameday Central page, click here.

• Let's Check The Polls
The national rankings are in near consensus about where the Gauchos rank as four of the five major polls – the NSCAA, Soccer America, Soccer Times and College Soccer News – have UCSB as the nation's No. 9 team., meanwhile, bumped the Gauchos up one spot to No. 6 in this week's Top-48 rankings.

• For The Record
UCSB enters this week's contest undefeated with a record of 2-0-1 after going 1-0-1 at last weekend's Gonzaga Nike Classic. The Gauchos settled for a 2-2 double overtime tie against Oregon State on Friday before posting their first program win over host Gonzaga, 3-0, in Sunday's tournament finale. Junior Daniel Welsh garnered Defensive MVP honors at the tourney.

• Ryan Repeats
Senior Nic Ryan has scored both of the Gauchos' game-winning goals this season and leads the Big West in game-clinching strikes. In just three games, Ryan has already doubled his career goals output (4). Notably, all four of his career goals have been game-winners, including his unforgettable golden goal in the 2010 Big West Tournament Semifinal against Cal Poly (Nov. 10).

• Immediate Impacts
Of the 20 points (seven goals, six assists) that the Gauchos have tallied thus far, 14 have been posted by newcomers to the program. Junior Achille Campion is tied with Ryan for the team lead in points (4) and goals (2). Senior Dion Acoff has a goal and an assist on the year, freshman Ema Boateng has tallied a pair of helpers, juniors Goffin Boyoko and Javier Castro each have scored and Welsh has tallied an assist.

• Bruised, Not Broken
The UCSB lineup did not survive its first trip to Washington totally unscathed, but the good news is that the injuries sustained are not major. Fifi Baiden, who missed Sunday's match, and Peter McGlynn, who was injured in the first minute against Gonzaga, are both expected to return to the pitch this Friday. Peter Schmetz, who had to leave Sunday's match early, should be back in time for the Gauchos' next road trip to San Diego.

• Season Tickets Still Available!
