MLS Night Features Los Angeles Galaxy, Colorado Rapids

UCSB will host its second MLS Night of the spring season when the Colorado Rapids and two-time defending MLS Champion Los Angeles Galaxy visit Harder Stadium on February 22.

The night begins at 5:00 with UCSB taking on the Rapids and potentially, former Gaucho Machael David who is competing for a midfield spot with Colorado after being selected in the MLS supplemental draft.

The evening will conclude with the Rapids facing Robbie Keane, Juninho and the Bruce Arena led Galaxy in a 7:00 game.

"We're looking forward to a great evening of soccer in Santa Barbara as our players get ready to open the season on March 2 in Dallas," said Rapids technical director Paul Bravo.

On Saturday, February 9, the Gauchos hosted the San Jose Earthquakes and the Chicago Fire. UCSB battled the Fire to a 1-1 draw that saw a goal from Charlie Miller and terrific performances from Ema Boateng, Fifi Baiden, Kevin Garcia-Lopez and Austin Mansker.

"We are fortunate as a program and a soccer community to be able to enjoy the best of professional soccer in our own backyard," said head coach Tim Vom Steeg.  "Having a strong support from local soccer fans at the game will help to insure that we will be able to have more events like this here in Santa Barbara."
