Baiden Lands on Top Drawer Soccer's "Top-10 Midfielders" List

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Ahead of his senior season, holding midfielder Fifi Baiden has been named to Top Drawer Soccer's top-10 "Best Midfielders" list.

"This recognition is a direct result of Fifi's consistent play over the past three years," said UCSB head coach Tim Vom Steeg. "He was our best midfielder last year, and everyone expects him to have a tremendous senior season."

Of the 10 names on the list, Baiden is the only defensively-minded midfielder. From the Top Drawer Soccer release:

"There are few players as disruptive as the Gauchos starting defensive midfielder. Baiden sits in front of the back four and protects UCSB from counterattacks, as head coach Tim Vom Steeg's system depends on getting his outside backs forward into the attack. Over the course of his three seasons with the Gauchos, Baiden has played in 59 games and started 47. He has only missed one start in the last two seasons."

Baiden's impressive defensive performance last season netted him an All-Big West First Team selection. He also was named to the Academic All-Conference Team.

UCSB men's soccer season tickets are now on sale for the 2013 campaign.  Don't miss out on the action as the Gauchos host top talent from all over the country including Stanford, Cal Poly and 2012 NCAA Sweet 16 participant New Mexico.
