Boateng Signs With First Division European Team

Ema Boateng has signed a professional contract with Helsingborgs IF, a member of the Swedish premier division: Allsvenskan. Commonly referred to as 'HIF' in Sweden, the club has won five National Championships, five national cup titles and was the most recent Swedish side to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Boateng becomes the 30th player under Vom Steeg to sign professionally after sharpening their skills at UCSB.

The Gauchos return an incredibly deep and talented team for 2013 led by forwards Achille Campion and Charlie Miller, midfielders Goffin Boyoko, Fifi Baiden, Kevin Garcia-Lopez and Adam Carn Saferstein, a stout back-line of Brandon Brockway, Daniel Welsh, Peter Schmetz and Matt Glodack playing in-front of keeper Austin Mansker. Marquee transfers Reed McKenna (UCLA) and Isaiah Trejo (Louisville) will join a skilled group of freshmen including Drew Murphy, John Rehl and high-scoring Armand Bagramyan.

Catch the magic of Gaucho soccer and see the next generation of future professionals with season tickets. The popular Family Plan starts at around $3 per game and includes two adult tickets, three youth GKids memberships and t-shirts (GKids is the official kids club of Gaucho Athletics and includes free admission to almost every UCSB game).
