SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The nation's best soccer broadcast schedule just got even better, as Fox Sports West has announced that they will televise UCSB's Nov. 9 Blue-Green Rivalry matchup against Cal Poly.
The Gauchos will now have every men's soccer match broadcast via commercial radio or streamed online, with three matches being televised nationally. In addition to the season-closing clash with the Mustangs, UCSB's Sep. 13 matchup with UCLA will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network, while the home contest against Stanford on Sep. 27 will be covered by NSCAA.com.
The best rivalry in college soccer, each UCSB-Cal Poly matchup has been an event since over 8,000 fans filled the stands to see the Gauchos best the Mustangs 3-1 on Nov. 3, 2007. Last year's contest drew 13,467 fans to Harder Stadium, the highest attendance of any collegiate soccer match in 2012. Of the top 12 most attended regular season, on-campus matches in NCAA soccer history, Gaucho-Mustang showdowns comprise seven of them.
Locally, the Fox Sports West broadcast can be seen on channel 37/1037 (standard definition/high definition) with Cox Cable, channel 692 with DirecTV, and channel 417 with Dish Network. For non-Santa Barbara fans, check your local listings.
After defeating Westmont 3-0 in an exhibition at Harder Stadium last weekend, the No. 13 Gauchos will travel to Chicago where they will open up their regular season with matches against Northwestern (Friday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. Pacific) and University of Illinois, Chicago (Sunday, Sep. 1 at 11 a.m. Pacific).
