UCSB Lands on Postseason Top-25 Rankings For 11th Time in Past 12 Seasons
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – For the 11th time in the past dozen years, the UC Santa Barbara men's soccer team has ended the season ranked amongst the top-25 in the nation by the NSCAA.
Finishing at No. 20, it was yet another successful season for head coach Tim Vom Steeg and his squad.
"There were some question marks about our squad entering the season, so to have the year we had with five freshmen starting and all the injuries we had is pretty remarkable," said Vom Steeg. "It's a testament to the hard work and dedication this team exhibited from the first day of training onwards."
Led by upperclassmen Achille Campion, Goffin Boyoko, Peter Schmetz, Daniel Welsh, and Fifi Baiden, as well as freshmen Josh McNeely, Ismaila Jome, Drew Murphy, and Nick DePuy, the Gauchos put together a 12-6-3 record this past season, including an 11-match unbeaten streak that spanned their entire Big West Conference schedule. The strong finish to the season earned UCSB a No. 10 national seed in the NCAA tournament, second highest in program history.
