Fifth Annual Skills Day Headlines UCSB Soccer's 2014 AYSO Community Event Schedule

SANTA BARBARA, Calif – Continuing a strong tradition of community involvement, UCSB soccer had scheduled a number of events in coordination with the American Youth Soccer Organization, headlined by the fifth annual AYSO Skills Day, which last year drew over 1,500 attendees.

Taking place on Aug. 24 from 2:30-6:30 p.m., the AYSO Skills Day is free to all AYSO affiliated players, coaches, and parents and will feature skill clinics with UCSB players and coaching clinics with UCSB coaches. Participating teams will be able to learn new skills and tricks, have fun with the Gauchos, and receive promotional items and autographs.

No registration is required at this year's event, which will take place at Harder Stadium. Last year's Skills Day drew over 1,500 participants. The event is taking place the day after UCSB's season-opening exhibition contest against Westmont.

Other community events involving the Gauchos include AYSO Banner Night, the ball boy program, and the guest coaching program.

The AYSO Banner Night, scheduled for the Oct. 4 home contest against UC Irvine, features a halftime parade of local youth teams on the Harder Stadium pitch.

To be a ball boy at a UCSB home game, sign up here. For safety reasons, ball boys must be at least 11 years of age.
