UCSB Athletics Announces Extensive Men's Soccer Broadcast Schedule
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara men's soccer team will have 17 of its 19 regular season games broadcasted across six different media entities on television and radio for the upcoming year, UCSB Athletics announced today.
A trio of the squad's games will appear on national television, headlined by this year's Blue-Green showdown with Cal Poly at Harder Stadium on Oct. 25 that will be broadcasted by Fox Sports Prime Ticket for the second consecutive year. The annual home game against Cal Poly attracts some of the biggest crowds in collegiate soccer – 12,805 fans packed Harder last season, the highest single-game attendance of any NCAA soccer match in 2013.
NSCAA TV will broadcast the home contest against UCLA on Sep. 20. One of UCSB's primary non-conference rivals, the two teams drew just under 16,000 fans to Harder Stadium on Sept. 24, 2010, which still stands as a regular season, on-campus attendance record for an NCAA soccer game.
Finally, the Pac-12 Network will cover UCSB's away trip to Stanford on Sept. 9.
All of UCSB's home games will be streamed live through Big West TV.
On the radio side, Gerry Fall – The Voice of the Gauchos – returns for another season as the play-by-play commentator for UCSB men's soccer.
Starting with the team's home opener on Sep. 5 against Northwestern, UCSBgauchos.com will carry a live internet broadcast of every remaining UCSB men's soccer game.
In addition to the online coverage, KZSB AM 1290 will carry a minimum of 12 Gaucho matches over the air in 2014, including all 10 Big West matches and the non-conference showdowns with UCLA at home and Stanford on the road. The News-Press Radio's coverage ensures that UCSB will yet again have the most commercial radio broadcasts of any collegiate soccer program in the nation.
The fifteenth-ranked Gauchos open the 2014 regular season this weekend when they travel to the College of Charleston for the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic. For a recap of Saturday's 2-0 exhibition win over Westmont, click here.
