2003: His personal goal for the season is "to change every game"...2002: Deering appeared in all 22 matches for the Gauchos, UCSB's primary forward off the bench he made just six starts as a junior...Finished third on the team and eighth in the Big West with eight goals, the most by any non-starter and second most among returnees...Named to the All-Tournament team at the St. Louis/Nike Invitational after leading UCSB to a tourney title by netting both game-winners for the Gauchos...His five assists were the most by a forward and the fifth most overall on the team, as well as being the ninth most by a single player in the Big West...Led all non-starters with 21 total points, placing him eighth in the Big West...Netted two goals in the home-opener against St. Mary's...Recorded the third most game-winning goals on the team with three, remarkably those three came in a four game span (JMU, SMS & Sac St.)...Posted a .375 shot percentage in the conference play to lead the team (min. 3 shots)...Netted one goal and assisted on another in three separate matches, at Sacramento State, and at home against UC Riverside and Cal Poly...Ran his career goal count to 12 and point total to 30, both are the second most amongst returnees...2001: Suffering a season-ending injury with just under a third of the season remaining, Deering ended the year tied as the Gauchos' fourth highest goal scorer, netting three in 13 attempts...His .231 shot percentage was the third best last season, and second best among returning players...Scored the game-winning goal at UC Riverside...Started five of the 13 matches in which he appeared...2000: Showed tremendous strength and ability up front as a rookie placing 14 shots on goal...Took the field more than any other UCSB freshmen making 6 starts in 17 appearances...His first goal as a Gaucho came in a match at Cal earning him 2 points for the season.
Prepped at Davis High School...Played both forward and midfield in high school...As a senior, he was named Area MVP, Delta League MVP, All-Area and All-Delta League after leading the Devils to a CIF Championship...Helped guide Davis to Delta League and San Jouquin Section championships in 1999 and 2000...Davis finished ranked among the nation's top-ten...Scored 24 goals and ten assists for 58 points as a senior...As a junior, he scored 30 goals and was named All-Delta League and All-Area...Coached by Ashly Yudin.
Was a member of the Northern California ODP team in 2000...Played for the Davis Devils on the club level.

What does being a member of the UCSB men's soccer team mean to you?
"Each and everyone of our practices are intense. We can have fun sitting in an airport for five hours. And finally, it means not being able to remember to last time we lost in Harder Stadium."
