2007: One of four Gauchos to appear in all 21 matches...Scored three goals and dished out two assists as a junior...Two of his goals came in Santa Barbara's final three games of the season, including the third round contest at Ohio State (12/2)...Also scored against Stanford (8/31) and UC Riverside (11/17)...Tallied a pair of helpers in the Gauchos' 5-1 thumping of Columbia (9/21). 2006: Perera had a breakout sophomore season wearing the blue and gold, appearing in 21 matches...Was the team's second-leading scorer with 18 points on seven goals and four assists...Made his first career start at UC Davis (9/23) and went on to start the following five matches...After scoring his fourth goal of the season against UC Riverside (11/4), he was inserted back into the starting lineup for all six contests in the NCAA Tournament and quickly made a name for himself, tallying three goals and two assists in postseason play...Registered an assist on the game-winner against San Diego State, as UCSB came back to win 2-1 (11/11)...Put the Gauchos up 1-0 with a goal at the 31:38 mark of their 3-1 victory over top-ranked SMU (11/15)...Struck early again at Old Dominion three days later, scoring just 6:11 in...His best performance of the year came when it mattered most against UCLA in the championship match...Gave Santa Barbara an early advantage yet again, slipping the ball inside the left post in the third minute...Later in the second half he one-timed a ball to a streaking Eric Avila on his left for the Gauchos' second goal and the eventual game-winner...Was named the College Cup Most Outstanding Offensive Player for his performance...Santa Barbara was a perfect 9-0-0 when he registered a goal or an assist. 2005: Made eight appearances as a freshman with the Gauchos...Recorded his first career assist when he connected with Eric Frimpong for the final goal in a 4-0 win at Cal State Fullerton (10/5).
Played his club ball with K.N.S. Tervuren in Belgium...Led New Star to five league championships and was named league MVP in 2000, 2003, and 2004...Also helped New Star claim the Belgian Provincial Cup in 2003...Netted 40 goals and 14 assists for K.N.S. Tervuren during various competitions in 2004 after tallying 36 goals and 14 assists in 2003...Helped New Star qualify for a pair of youth international club tournaments where they faced such powers as AS Roma, Lyon, and Anderlecht.
Perera attended the European School of Brussels, leading it to the Inter-European School League Championship three years running from 2002-04...Earned the Golden Boot award twice...Named the league MVP in 2002, 2003, and 2004...Set the school record with 57 goals and 22 assists during his career.
