2002: Comes into his senior season as one of the Gauchos' team captains...Having matured into one Vom Steeg's best midfielders, he will play more of a defensive role as one of the starting center half-backs...2001: Young became quite a presence in the Gauchos' midfield, after seeing limited time in his first two seasons at UCSB, he started 17 matches for Santa Barbara, missing two games due to suspension...An All-Big West Honorable Mention, he scored two goals off of 16 shots for a .125 shot percentage...Known more for his aggressiveness and ability to push the ball upfield, Young assisted on two goals, finishing with six points...2000: Appeared in 15 matches in his first season of seeing playing time for the Gauchos...Led the squad with a .250 shooting percentage tallying one goal off of 4 shots taken...His goal proved to be the deciding factor in a win at UNLV.

Attended at Valencia High School...He was team captain his senior season...Named Valencia's MVP as a senior...A First Team All-Orange League selection and the Orange League Defensive Player of the Year...Coached by Dan Melia...Also played three years of volleyball for the Tigers...Captained the volleyball team as a senior earning team MVP honors.

Daniel Evan Young was born October 6, 1980 in Avalon, CA...Is a Psychology major at UCSB...Would like to become involved in counseling upon graduation...Is a Golden Eagle Award recipient at UCSB for academic excellence...A member of UCSB's Jazz Ensemble, he can not do without his bass guitar...Enjoys reading the works of John Grisham...His favorite movie is "Dumb and Dumber"...Coming back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to defeat Cal State Fullerton 3-2 at home last season is his most memorable sports moment...When he isn't playing soccer you can find him at the beach or playing volleyball...He always has yogurt in the frig...Played seven seasons with the JUSA Select team...Has three older siblings, Nate, Jon and Abbi...The son of Roxanne Young.
