Men's Soccer Drops Final Match Of Season At Cal Poly, 3-0

Santa Barbara, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara's men's soccer team finished their season on Tuesday night with a 3-0 loss to Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe Cal Poly. The Gauchos end their season with a record of 8-10-1, 2-4-1 in MPSF action.
The Gauchos fell behind early when Cal Poly's Johnny Cummins found the net in the 10th minute to put the Mustangs ahead 1-0. UCSB defended well in the period keeping the Mustangs off the scoreboard for the next 35 minutes.
However, Cal Poly came back from halftime strong, posting their second goal of the match on,y 32 seconds into the half. The Gauchos tried to form an offensive attack, taking six of their ten shots in the second half. Junior forward Joe Hubay-Dies led UCSB with two shots, while eight other Gauchos had one shot apiece.
Senior forward Thiago Martins finishes the season as the Gaucho's leading scorer. Martins earned 14 points over the course of the season on six goals and two assists. Junior forward Jaime Ambriz finishes in second with 13 points, coming off six goals and one assist. Sophomore Sean Edwards rounds out the top three with nine points off three goals and three assists.
