Tim Vom Steeg To Appear on FSC's Center Circle

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - After guiding the UC Santa Barbara men's soccer team to its first NCAA National Championship last month, head coach Tim Vom Steeg will appear on the Fox Soccer Channel's Center Circle next week.

The two-hour program will look at the future of U.S. soccer and air live from the NSCAA convention Thursday, January 11 at 5:00 p.m. PST. The panel of hosts includes Max Bretos, Bobby McMahon, Christian Miles, and Christopher Sullivan. Vom Steeg, who will enter his ninth season as coach of the Gauchos in 2007, joins special guests Don Garber, MLS Commissioner, and NSCAA President Louise Waxler on the show.

UCSB completed is miraculous title run with a 2-1 victory over UCLA in the finals December 3. The victory over the Bruins came less than 24 hours after Santa Barbara advanced past No. 2 seed Wake Forest 4-3 in a penalty kick shootout in the semifinals. After falling to 7-6 on October 11, the Gauchos turned things around and won 10 of their final 12 matches to claim the school's second national title and first since the men's water polo team won the championship in 1979.
