Santa Barbara, Calif. - Fans of the UC Santa Barbara men's soccer team can come meet the Gauchos, fresh off their appearance in the NCAA National Championship game, this Saturday at Macy's in the Paseo Nuevo Mall. Members of UCSB's National Finalist squad will be signing autographs from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the men's clothing section.
Free team posters commemorating the Gauchos' run to the NCAA Championship match will be available for signing to the first 500 fans. There will also be mini adidas Finale balls for sale, as well as adidas youth training gear and other UCSB Gaucho gear for sale and signing.
And as a special way to thank the UCSB fans, Macy's will be giving away two free tickets to the Gauchos' men's basketball game on Saturday, February 5th against Utah State to every customer that makes a minimum $35 dollar purchase this Saturday. The UCSB Athletic Department will be honoring the men's soccer team, as well as presenting them with their National Finalist trophy, during halftime of the aforementioned men's basketball game.
In other Gaucho soccer news, Santa Barbara's standout freshman Tyler Rosenlund and Andy Iro were both named First Team Freshman All-American by College Soccer News. Rosenlund, who last night helped Canada's U-20 National Team wins its first game against Mexico in Youth World Cup Qualifying, appeared in 24 of the Gauchos' 25 games, netting a pair of goals and assisting on five others as the controlling midfielder. Iro, who had a standout season as UCSB's central defender, helped anchor a Gaucho backline that put up a school record 15 shutouts and nation's third-best 0.53 goals against average.
