Loyal Gaucho Fans to be Honored with Golden Scarves at Sept. 24 UCLA Match

Aug. 25, 2010

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UCSB Athletics is proud to announce that this year's "Golden Scarf" ceremony will take place prior to the highly-anticipated men's soccer match against UCLA on Friday, Sept. 24 at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium at 7 p.m.

This year, four individuals will be awarded a Golden Scarf for their dedication, passion and commitment to UCSB, the sport of soccer and/or the community. Last season, over 20 loyal Gaucho soccer fans received their scarves at halftime of the Oct. 2 men's soccer match against Indiana.

Nominations are now being taken online for this year's honor. Each person who submits a nominee will receive a pair of free tickets to a Big West Conference home soccer match of their choosing. To nominate someone you feel is worthy of recognition, click here.

The soccer scarf has long been a symbol of unity and support for teams around the globe, and Gaucho fans - the most passionate and enthusiastic in the country - have made the scarf a tradition at Harder Stadium. This season's official scarf is blue and gold with the "Soccer Heaven" tag on it. It is available for free with the purchase of all season ticket packages. Along with the free scarf, the value-packed season ticket packages include an All-Session pass to the 2010 Men's College Cup hosted by UCSB on December 10-12.

To purchase your tickets for the 2010 soccer season or for more information, please call (805) 893-UCSB, visit the Ticket Office located inside the Intercollegiate Athletics building on campus or buy online by clicking here.
