Walker Named to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Senior forward David Walker was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com Men's Team of the Week it was announced Monday. The Orange, Calif. native earned tournament MVP honors at last weekend's West Virginia University/Nike Classic.

Walker was named to the team of 11 after posting a trio of goals in Morgantown, West Virginia. His first goal of the weekend came in the tournament opener over host West Virginia on Friday, which the Gauchos won, 2-0.

The senior followed up that showing with the first two-goal performance of his collegiate career in the 4-3 win over Pitt, including a goal in the 86th minute that tied the game, sending the contest into overtime.

Between the Gauchos' three games last week, Walker recorded three goals on nine shots (seven of which were on-goal), already matching his goal total from the 2008 season.

In related news, UCSB has moved up in two national polls released on Monday. TopDrawerSoccer.com, which had the Gauchos ranked No. 10 in its preseason poll, has UCSB ranked No. 4 this week. UCSB rose from No. 15 to No. 7 in Soccer America's latest national poll.

UCSB returns home this week to host Rutgers in a nationally televised match on Friday. The Gauchos and Scarlet Knights will face-off on Friday, Sept. 11 at 8 pm at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium. The game will air live on Fox Soccer Channel.

The ICA Ticket Office will be open from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays. The two parking spots, designated specifically for the ticket office, are already available during weekday hours, which are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
