UC Santa Barbara men's swim and dive team placed nine of its members on the Pac-12 All-Academic team it was announced Friday by the conference. Two earned first team recognition, two were named to the second team and five received honorable mention honors.
Making their NCAA Division I Championship debuts, sophomore Wade Allen tackled the 100 butterfly and senior Tim Freeman swam the 100 breaststroke in their first events on Friday held at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.

The UC Santa Barbara swimming and diving teams traveled up north to take on Cal Poly at Anderson Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon. The Mustang women came up big on their senior day beating the Gauchos 172-128, while the UCSB men won a nail-biter 151.5-146.5.
For six seniors, it was their last meet at Campus Pool and their last chance to go out on a high note at home. UCSB accomplished just that on Saturday afternoon, as the Gaucho men defeated Pacific 152.5-109.5, while the women took down Loyola Marymount 176-85 and Pacific 161-101.
The UCSB swimming and diving teams took on UNLV in a closely contested battle on Saturday afternoon at Buchanan Natatorium. In a meet that came down to the final events, the Gaucho men fell 155-143, and the women lost 155-145.
For the last two Olympics, American swimmer and former UC Santa Barbara standout Jason Lezak was the oldest man on the United States Olympic Swim Team. Having no desire to make it a third, the 37-year old Lezak has officially announced his retirement today, wrapping a spectacular career that has spanned four Olympics and eight medals (four gold, two silver, and two bronze).
The UC Santa Barbara swimming and diving teams were back in action on the road against Cal State Bakersfield Saturday afternoon at Hillman Aquatics Complex. In their first dual meet since Nov. 3, UCSB swept the competition with the men winning 184-115, while the women defeated CSUB 162-132.
Seven Gaucho swimmers traveled to Texas over the weekend to compete at the AT&T Winter National Championships. The event included elite swimmers from around the country, including many Olympic Champions, and was held at Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas.
The UC Santa Barbara men's and women's swim teams head down south to Long Beach to compete in the three-day long Arena Invitational. The event is hosted by UC San Diego and will take place at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool starting Thursday Nov. 15.
The UC Santa Barbara swimming and diving teams were at it again Saturday afternoon battling Cal Poly in the Blue-Green Rivalry at Campus Pool. For the second straight day, the Gauchos swept the competition in both dual meets with the men topping the Mustangs, 191-107 and the women winning 167-133.
The UCSB swimming and diving teams will have their first meet at home this season, when they take on UC San Diego this Friday. The divers will begin the day at 11:00 a.m. and the swimming will get underway at noon. On Saturday, only the swim teams will face Cal Poly as the divers head south for the USC Invitational. That action begins at 11:00 a.m. at Campus Pool.
The UCSB swimming and diving teams opened up the 2012-13 season with the women claiming two victories out of their three match-ups. They defeated Oregon State, 195-98 and Utah, 183-115, however lost to UCLA, 185-110. The men’s team was defeated by Utah, 161-138.
