SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UCSB diving team competed in the Bulldog Invite on the campus of the University of Redlands. Standout freshman Lester Wright claimed first place finishes in 1 meter and 3 meter diving. Wright had terrific scores in his six dives in the 1 meter finishing with 332.60 points, 43 points ahead of second place. In the 3 meter, Wright found similar results finishing 48 points ahead of second with 355.95 points. Wright was the lone representative for the Gauchos, competing against 19 other swimmers from several schools on the west coast.
Sophomore Hannah Tomp had a marvelous performance in the women's 3 meter diving, finishing with 260.55 points. Tomp also placed 5th in the 1 meter, while fellow sophomore Monika Terry came in second place out of thirty-six swimmers with 248.60 points.
Other notable finishes for the woman in the 1 meter include: sophomore Tripti Singhal, 7th place (210.80), freshman Mariah Renteria, 8th place (207.95), sophomore Quetzal Moreno, 9th place (206.50), and sophomore Caila Baltas, 10th place (203.60). In the 3 meter Moreno placed 6th (224.15), Terry 7th (221.55), Baltas 8th (218.55), Renteria 10th (207.85), and Singhal 11th (205.20).
The Gauchos head to Las Vegas for a swimming invitational at UNLV on November 21st.
