SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UCSB men's swimming and diving team will conclude their home schedule against Stanford on Friday, February 7 at 2:00pm at Campus Pool. This will mark the final home meet of the season with conference championships right around the corner.
The Gauchos are coming off of a victory over their rival Cal Poly this past Saturday where they defeated the Mustangs in a dual, 203-85. The men have taken five consecutive dual meets over their opponents.
Sophomore Mickey Mowry had two individual victories on Saturday, in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly's, with times of50.32 and 1:49.76, respectively. Fellow sophomore Andy Castilleja also finished first in two individual events, in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke (57.13 and 2:05.31) and was part of a third victory in the 200 yard medley relay (1:31.89) with Wade Allen, Randy Aakhus, and Ryan Hanni. Aakhus added two individual victories of his own, in the 200 yard backstroke (1:49.43) and 200 yard individual medley (1:52.03). Hanni won two sprint freestyle events, the 50 and 100 yard free in 20.55 and 44.84, respectively.
The Gauchos will next compete in the PAC-12 Championships, to be held in Federal Way, Washington on March 5th.
