Gaucho Men Pull Ahead Into First Place, Women in Second on Day Two of MPSF Finals

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Day two of MPSF Conference Championships saw a pair of individual event wins, and more strong finishes for the Gauchos. The Gaucho men (273) pulled ahead of Hawaii (229), while the women (208) hold second place just behind Hawaii.

Starting off the second day with the women's 500 yard freestyle, Emily Boggess (4:44.91) finished first with a four second lead in front of Pheobe Hines (4:48.07) of Hawaii. Rachel Forbes (4:52.91) took first in the consolation finals.

The Gaucho men followed suit, racking up more points for UCSB in the men's 500 yard freestyle. Logan Hotchkiss (4:18.75) touched first, Eric Vanbrocklin (4:23.60) took third, Joseph Lastelic (4:24.87) followed in fifth, and Jake Rollo (4:31.02) in seventh.

Billy Mullis (1:45.14) finished second place in the 200 yard IM, less than a second behind Metin Aydin (1:44.66) of Hawaii. Dylan Kubick (1:45.25) followed up in third place, and Michael Wang (1:47.43) took fifth.

In a tight race, Mason Tittle (20.13) took third place in the 50 yard freestyle, less than a second behind the first and second place swimmers. Yoessef Tibazi (20.39) took sixth place.

To end the second day, the Gaucho women's A relay (1:31.37) touched second in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The Gaucho men's A relay (1:20.69) finished fourth in the event.
