UCSB Men's Swimming Signs 6 to National Letters of Intent

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara men's swim team has signed 6 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. The versatile and talented incoming rookies include Nicholas Allison, Zachary Dietz, Dominic Falcon, Kennan Hotchkiss, William Schodorf, and Benjamin Wolf.

Dominic Falcon
Dominic Falcon (Ocean View HS) swims for Irvine Novaquatics and competes in mid-distance freestyle, butterfly, and individual medley events. He's a two-time CIF D4 Champion, winning the 200 SCY freestyle and 500 SCY freestyle, posting times of 1:38.77 and 4:26.35 respectively. He also holds top times of a 1:49.28 in his 200 SCY butterfly, a 1:51.55 in his 200 SCY IM, and a 3:54.41 in his 400 SCY IM. Dominic also received honors in 2018 as a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. The mid-distance training squad is excited to have picked up Dominic as a Gaucho, as his versatility in the pool will make an excellent impact on the group next year.

Zachary Dietz
Zachary Dietz (Willow Glen HS) swims for Osprey Aquatics and competes in freestyle and backstroke events. He took 5th place in the 100 SCY backstroke at the 2018 CA CIF State Championship with a time of 49.44, dropping time from his 2nd place swim at CCS CIF Championship (49.70). Zachary also swims sprint freestyle, posting top times of a 20.78 in his 50 SCY freestyle and a 45.56 in his 100 SCY freestyle. He also received honors in 2018 as a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and NISCA All-American. The sprint group is eager to start training with Zachary and see how he can make an effect in the pool.

Benjamin Wolf
Benjamin Wolf (Martin Luther King HS) swims for Riverside Aquatics and competes in sprint freestyle and butterfly events. At CIF D2 Championships he took 4th in the 100 SCY freestyle, touching at a 46.27, and 7th in the 200 SCY freestyle with a time of 1:40.01. He also holds times of a 21.06 in his 50 SCY freestyle, a 45.74 in his 100 SCY freestyle, a 1:39.50 in his 200 SCY freestyle, and a top time of 50.43 in his 100 SCY butterfly. Benjamin also received honors in 2018 as a NISCA All-American. The men's team is excited to see how Benjamin can make an impact in the pool.

William Schodorf
William Schodorf (El Segundo HS) swims for La Mirada Armada, competes in distance freestyle events. He placed 4th in the 1500 LCM freestyle at the 2018 Futures Championship with a time of 16:03.51 and placed 6th in the 500 SCY freestyle (4:32.06) at CIF D2 Championships. He also holds times of a 1:40.95 in the 200 SCY freestyle, a 4:29.61 in the 500 SCY freestyle, and a top time of his class in the 1650 SCY freestyle with a 15:39.68. William will be a good addition to the Gaucho men's distance program.

Kennan Hotchkiss
Kennan Hotchkiss (Malibu HS), younger sibling of Logan Hotchkiss, swims for Malibu Seawolves Swimming. Just like his brother, he competes in distance freestyle events. He took 3rd in the 500 SCY freestyle at CIF D3 Championships with a time of 4:35.47 and 5th in the 200 SCY freestyle with a 1:43.18. His time of 15:52.89 in 1650 freestyle will also make an impact on the distance group. The men's team is happy to welcome Kennan as a Gaucho and can't wait for his enthusiasm in the distance group.

Nicholas Allison
Nicholas Allison (El Segundo HS) swims for La Mirada Armada, competing in the backstroke events. He placed 4th in the 100 SCY backstroke at CIF D2 Championships with a time of 50.19 and placed 6th in the 200 LCM backstroke at 2018 Futures Championship with a 2:08.30. He also holds the top time of 1:49.35 in the 200 SCY backstroke. The men's team is excited for the impact he will make on the backstroke training squad
