UC Santa Barbara Crushes Conference Rival UC Davis 165.5 to 96.5

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Gauchos welcomed UC Davis to Campus Pool on Saturday for a dual meet. UC Davis took second to UCSB last year at the Big West Championship and today's outcome looks good for the Gauchos for this years upcoming Big West Championship meet. Chris Good kept expectations high by winning three individual events. His teammates helped him score points by taking wins in eight of the twelve individual events and winning the 400 free relay.

Good scored a total of 27 individual points by winning the 100 back and 200 back, 52.24 and 1:50.99 respectively, and the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.27. Good was also a member of the UCSB `B' 200 medley relay team taking third in that event.

Senior Captain Pat Cary was a double event winner in the 200 free, 1:21.68 deviating from his usual butterfly events to prove his versatility as a swimmer. He went on to restate his explosive power by winning the 100 fly with a time of 49.81. The next closest was freshman Chris Wiggin with a time of 52.48. Wiggin won the 200 fly 1:53.37 and teammates Brent Nolan and Jonathan Kraetsch took second and third in the that event, 1:53.98 and 1:54.93, respectively.

Bradley Matsumoto won the 50 free, 21.40 and teammate Scott Vogelgesang took second in that event, 21.46. Vogelgesang continued on to win the 100 free with a time of 46.77.

UCSB will swim against the University of Las Vegas on January 28, 2007 at Las Vegas and will return home to swim the last home meet of the season against Pacific on February 3, 2007.
