UCSB Assistant Coach Takes Fourth at FINA World Championships

Melbourne, Australia - The 2007 FINA World Championship Open Water Swimming events were held at St Kilda Beach in Australia. UCSB assistant coach Mark Warkentin represented the USA and finished fourth place in the 25k with a time of 5:20:42.01. He was just over three minutes behind the leader Yury Kudinov from Russia. Warkentin also swam the 10k earlier in the week and finished in 20th place with a time of 1:56:15.28. This was Warkentin's first world championship meet for open water swimming.
