Oct. 28, 2005
Tempe, Arizona - Final score of the dual meet UCSB 82 Arizona State 85, UCSB giving up lead in the last event of the day at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center, Arizona. The Gauchos went head to head with ASU, reluctantly giving up the 200 yard freestyle relay but taking four first place finishes during the meet. Junior Pat Cary's 200 fly was the best event of the day for UCSB. Cary was pushed very hard by ASU and was able to come out on top. Freshman Chris Good took second in the 400 IM and took first place with a 1:50.32 in the 200 back. ASU men swept the breaststroke which hurt the Gauchos.
"It was a very exciting meet, it was swam fast" said Head Coach Gregg Wilson. "ASU whittled away, finally coming out on top. It was great competition. We swam very fast, and were not happy about the win, but happy about the swims."
The Gauchos will challenge ASU again tomorrow at 10am at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.
