TUCSON, ARIZONA - The Gauchos were defeated by the University of Arizona 165 to 111 at Arizona's home pool, the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.
Despite the solid and disappointing defeat of the Gauchos at the hands of the Arizona swim team individual UCSB swimmers still put forth solid performances. The only win of the day was by Chris Good who swam the 400 IM in a winning time of 4:06:57. Chris followed up the strong performance in the 400 IM with a second place finish in the 200 backstroke event with a time of 1:51:75. Other notable performances were put forth by Chris Wigging who took second place in the 200 fly in 1:62:61 and followed up his performance there with a third place finish in the 100 fly. Other standouts were Travis Jepson, Daniel Nyaradi and Brooks Felton who took second in the 200 breast in a time of 2:08:40, third in the 200 breast in a time of 2:08.32and third in the 1000 free in 9:41:74 respectively. Finally the 200 freestyle relay team finished strong with a second place finish in a time of 1:26:23.
