Senior Pat Cary Named National Swimmer-of-the-Week

Santa Barbara, Calif. - Senior co-captain Pat Cary has been tabbed the National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week after winning two events to help UCSB cruise past Pacific in the season's final home meet Saturday.
Cary won the 200 butterfly by almost four seconds, recording a 1:47.73. He also took first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.92.
The Gauchos defeated the Tigers 153-109.
Stanford's Elaine Breeden won the honor on the women's side.
Winners were selected based on their performances between Jan. 29 and Feb. 5 by a panel of collegiate coaches and nominated by coaches, sports information directors, conference representatives, and CollegeSwimming.com staffers.
UCSB returns to action Feb. 21-24 at the Big West Championships in Long Beach, where it will look to defend its 2006 league title.
