SEATTLE, Wash. - UCSB sent three men to the USA Spring Championship meet including junior Pat Cary, sophomore Brooks Felton and freshman Chris Good. Pat Cary swam a personal best time of 54.86 in the 100m butterfly which earned him third place in the meet, an Olympic trial qualifying time and makes him the fifth fastest American this year in that event. He also swam, and placed seventh, in the 200m butterfly, 2:00.80, earning a second personal record and Olympic trial qualifying time for the meet and is the seventh fastest American in that event.
Cary's immediate goal is to make the USA World team this summer in long course swimming. He has gained priceless experience on the national level and is looking to step up his training in order to meet his goal. Since last summer Cary has dropped over one second in his 100m fly event and over three seconds in his 200m event. He is focused on the Olympic Trials in the summer 2008.
Gaucho teammates Good and Felton both finished in the top 24 in their events. Good made a national cut in the 400 IM, 4:33.20 and was 12th overall. Felton had a personal record time in the 400m freestyle event, 4.05.80, and placed 20th. All three Gaucho swimmers will continue to train this spring and summer and are very excited for the future seasons ahead.
