SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Former UC Santa Barbara swimmer Katy Freeman, who graduated in 2009 and still trains in Santa Barbara, took third place in the 200-meter breaststroke on Saturday at the ConocoPhillips National Championships in Irvine, Calif. Her finish earned her a spot on the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships team.

Freeman swam the 200 breast in 2:26.67 during Saturday's final, touching the wall just .17 seconds behind second-place finisher Amanda Beard. The former UCSB star placed 19th in the 100 breast earlier in the meet (1:09.72).
