Junior Chris Good swam to two individual victories on the final day of competition at the UNLV Winter Invite, propelling the UC Santa Barbara men's swimming team to a first place finish out of seven teams with a total of 740 points.
Good posted wins in the 200 back and 200 fly Monday afternoon in Las Vegas. The native of Highlands Ranch, Colo. secured the victory in the 200 back when he pulled in front of his Cal Poly competitor and never took his eyes off the prize, wining in 1:48.81. In the 200 fly, Good narrowly escaped a second place finish, winning by a narrow margin of .17 of a second in a time of 1:51.51.
Good also turned in a second place finish in the 400 IM, touching the board at 4:03.05 on the second day of action Sunday.
The UCSB women finished second out of nine teams with 818 points, led by sophomore Anne Marie May's school-record finish of 49:34 in the 100 free on the final day of competition.
The Gauchos return to the pool January 12 when they face USC in a non-conference match-up at Campus Pool, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
