SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UCSB men's tennis program has announced that Andrew Riminton will join the Gauchos for the 2012-2013 season. Riminton, who is from Sydney, Australia, is slated to begin his UCSB career this January for the start of the Gauchos' dual match season.
Riminton, at his career-high, was ranked No. 7 in the State (New South Wales) and No. 18 in the Country for the Junior Under 18's rankings. His highest men's ranking is No. 155.
Riminton earned those rankings by winning the 2012 Singles Australian Schoolboys at the Tennis Australia Cup. He also won the Head Twilight Australia Ranking Tournament in series #2 and #5 in 2012 and reached the finals in series #1. Riminton was a singles semi-finalist in the Gosford AMT in 2012.
As a member of his high school team, Riminton was named MVP from 2010-2012 and served as team captain for 2011-2012 season. He was also the captain of his school team that won the Pizzey Cup, which is the highest school tennis honor.
The Gauchos will return to the courts on January 16th at home against Westmont to open their dual match season.
