Men’s Tennis to Play Host to Loyola Marymount Saturday
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – After a long two and a half week layoff, the UCSB men's tennis team will return to the courts to face Loyola Marymount at home this Saturday.
The No.70- ranked Gauchos (1-1) last took the courts down in Los Angeles where they were nearly swept by the third ranked UCLA Bruins. The 6-1 score didn't tell the whole story, however, as the Gauchos had closer matches than indicated. Sophomore Axel Bouillin won his match against Bruin #3 Dennis Novikov and junior Sasha Gryaznov held his own against Clay Thompson, forcing a third set tie-breaker only to lose down the stretch.
UCSB is returning home to host Loyola Marymount, who carries a 0-4 record to start the season. The Lions have faced some tough competition, including No. 2- ranked USC last week and is a team that Coach Marty Davis calls "very talented and underrated."
The Gauchos will be looking to get back on track before heading on a three-game road trip to the Bay Area the following weekend.
Action is set to begin at 1:00 PM (PST) on Saturday Feb. 9 at the Rec Cen courts.
