Gauchos Continue Homestand; Set to Face Utah, #45 George Washington

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UCSB's busy schedule continues this week with a pair of home matches to conclude their four-game homestand. The Gauchos will host the University of Utah on Monday and #45 George Washington on Thursday at the Rec Cen Courts.

During the homestand, the Gauchos have gone 1-1, with a 5-2 win over Boston College and a narrow 4-3 loss against #36 San Diego State, which snapped the team's home undefeated streak.

The Gauchos return to the courts Monday to take on the University of Utah. The Utes faced off against #36 San Diego State on Sunday, a day after UCSB played the Aztecs, and took a 5-2 loss to drop their record to 7-4 overall on the season. Utah is on a three-game skid and has lost four of their last five, including losses to #39 BYU and Boise State. Utah's roster includes No. 98-ranked player, Slim Hamza, who has played at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions this season.

UCSB will conclude the homestand against #45-ranked George Washington University. The Colonials are coming into Santa Barbara on a roll, taking four of their last five matches, with their previous two matches ending in 7-0 sweeps. George Washington boasts No. 114-ranked Francisco Dias, who has helped the team accumulate an overall 7-4 record.

The Gauchos are set to take on the Utes starting at 1:30 PM (PST) on Monday, Mar. 11 at the Rec Cen Courts and will have a couple days off before facing #45 George Washington University at home on Thursday, Mar. 14, beginning at 1:30 PM (PST).
