LOS ANGELES, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara junior Ziad Sultan won two matches in the singles main draw to advance to Friday's quarterfinals at the 57th Annual SoCal Intercollegiate Championships in Los Angeles and both of the Gauchos' doubles tandems qualified for the doubles main draw on the first day of competition.
Sultan began the day against UCSD's Horea Poritiu in the Round of 32, defeating the Triton in straight sets 6-3, 6-0.
