Guillin Continues Hot Streak at ITA National Fall Championships

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - UCSB senior co-captain Joseph Guillin has been awarded the 13th seeded position in the ITA Fall National Championships which began on Wednesday in Newport Beach, California.  The ITA Fall Nationals, the third 'major' championship of the season, is comprised of the top 64 players in the country.  Joseph continues the streak of UCSB invitations to this prestigious tournament following in the footsteps of Nicolas Moreno de Alboran who reached the semi-finals of this event last year and Morgan Mays/Simon Freund who bounced the no. 1 seeds in the doubles competition in 2016.

UCSB's ace earned an automatic bid to the Fall Nationals by winning the ITA Southwest Regional Championship last month where he defeated all comers from USC, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, San Diego, Pepperdine and SDSU amongst others. Now, Guillin has advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Kody Pearson (Tulsa) 7-5, 6-1 and Ewan Moore (Tulane) 6-4, 7-6(7). Guillin is slated to face sixth-seeded Hady Habib (Texas A&M) on Friday at 10:30 AM.

The tournament is being played at The Tennis Club in Newport Beach and you can find the draw and follow matches live at: Events/2019_Oracle_ITA_ National_Fall_Championships. aspx?WebsiteKey=eb58e146-6a42- 4310-ac1b-6985bca5fc9b
