EUGENE, Ore. -- Thursday concluded day one of the NCAA West Preliminaries hosted by Hayward Field.
Ryan Martin advanced to the quarterfinals in the 800 meters with his time of 1:50.33 and was one of the top three times of his heat.
Justine Diaz qualified for the quarterfinals in the 800 meters with her time of 2:07.99 and was 20th out of the 24 runners who advance. This time is a new personal best for Diaz who narrowly missed qualifying at last year's preliminary round.
Both Diaz and Martin will compete with 24 other runners for 12 qualifying spots to the NCAA Finals.
In the 400 meter hurdles, André Piñon ran 53.25 to place 35th overall. Juan Paredes rank 3:48.59 in the 1,500 meters ranked 23rd and Tyler Brady ran 3:50.41 ranked 36th. Breanne Strenkowski ran 3:48.59 in the 10,000 meters and placed 23rd overall. Jean Lightfoot fouled in the shot put.
