DES MOINES, Iowa -- Ryan Martin finished eighth in the 800 meter finals at the NCAA Championships on Friday. Martin remained near the front of pack most of the race but fell to the back in the last home stretch and clocked in at 1:47.62.
Robby Andrews of Virginia won the race in 1:44.71 which broke the stadium record followed by Charles Jock of UC Irvine.
Martin's season highlight was his performance at the Big West Conference Championship in May. Martin ran a personal best of 1:45.34 which was ranked the second fastest time in the nation at the time. His time exceeds the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championship 'A' Standard time which is set at 1:47.50 and has qualified him to compete in Eugene, Ore. June 23-26.
