Martin Qualifies for 800 Final at World University Games

UC Santa Barbara's Ryan Martin has qualified for the final in the 800 meters at the World University Games after running a 1:48.07 in the semifinal round on Saturday.  The final will be run on Sunday morning at 4:00 a.m. (PDT).

Martin, who won the Big West title in the 800 meters and was an All-American in 2011, was the second automatic qualifier from the third heat. Lutimar Paes of Brazil won the heat in a time of 1:48.03

Overall, Martin ran the 10th fastest time in the semifinals.  Fred Samoei of Kenya had the fastest time in the semis at 1:46.91.
