Santa Barbara, Calif - The undefeated UCSB men's and women's Track & Field teams will travel to CSU Fullerton this weekend to compete at the Ben Brown Invitational on March 10-11.
The Invitational will feature a mix of over 20 NCAA, NAIA, and JC programs from across the nation. The Gauchos will get to compete for the first time against Big West schools Cal Poly SLO, UC Riverside, Long Beach State, CSU Fullerton, and CSU Northridge.
The meet will start with the Hammer at 9:30 AM Friday and conclude Saturday at 6:50 PM with the 4x400m Relay.
Directions/Parking: Exit the 57 freeway at Yorba Linda Blvd. and go West. After crossing signal at Associated Rd. turn left into Parking Lot A. The Track is located just South of Titan Stadium. Parking is free on weekends and $8 during the week.
Main Spectator Entrance: The main spectator entrance is the SW gate located near West Campus Dr. and the tennis courts. Park in Lot A or "Dumbo Downs" Lots
Admission: $5 admission charge for spectators. Children 5 & under and CSF Students are free.
An invitational meet score will be calculated for all participating D-I institutions.
Gauchos To Watch
Shannon Trumbull is entered in the 100m dash and 100m Hurdles after setting two PR's and two wins in both hurdle events last week. This included her first sub 14 clocking in the 100m hurdles (13.95).
Morgan Simpson will be competing in the same 200m/400m double that she dominated at the All-UC Challenge with marks of 25.80 and 56.91.
Jenna Hinkle will be making her 5000m debut after winning the Mile and 3000m at her first two meets by impressive margins. She set a All-UC meet record of 4:28.20 in the 1500m.
Valerie Nestor will be throwing Shot Put and Hammer after a monster heave of 184'3.25" in the Hammer at UC San Diego.
Jazmin Moss won the Long Jump and Triple Jump in 17'11.75" and 38'0.25" last week and will hope for even farther leaps.
Kordell Hampton will be throwing Discus, Shot Put, and Hammer after breaking the school record Discus with a mark of 178'0".
Sike Azu-Irondi will be competing in the 100m and 200m dash after setting a school record 10.55 in his 100m debut.
Adam Avila will be making his 5000m debut after last week's solo 9:00.40 meet record in the 3000m Steeplechase.
Blake DeHaven will be doing the big 400m/800m double after winning the 400m dash in 49.25 at the All-UC Challenge.
Stephen Leach will also be throwing Discus, Shot Put, and Hammer after winning the Shot Put and throwing a UCSB #4 all-time mark in the Discus (172'6.75") last weekend.
