Amanda Moreno, one of the most decorated distance runners in UCSB history, will begin her first season as an assistant coach. Amanda will work with the men’s and women’s cross country teams as well as the distance groups on the track. She will work primarily with the distance groups and oversee recruiting.
Moreno was a three time Big West Champion while running for the Gauchos. She claimed the Big West 5,000m outdoor title twice and also won the 2010 Big West Cross Country Championship, capping a stellar season with an appearance at the NCAA Championships. She is the Big West Conference record holder in the 5,000m with a time of 15:58.02, which she set at the Mt. Sac Relay’s in 2011. She also holds the Big West Cross Country Championship meet record in the 6,000m.
She graduated from UCSB in 2012 with a degree in Philosophy and a minor in Applied Psychology. Before coming to UCSB, Moreno won 6 Western Athletic Conference titles while at the University of Nevada-Reno and was the CIF XC State Champion while attending Escalon High School.
