April 22, 2006
On a windy weekend at the University of Oregon in Eugene, athletes from around the country converged on Hayward Field for the 2006 installment of the Oregon Invitational.
Matt Barkley (So.) continued to compete well in the Shot Put this season as he put another over 53 feet, remaining consistent week in, week out. His mark of 53-01 was good for 4th place. Finishing right behind him was fellow classmate Scott Anderson who competed for the first time this season. Short of his 2005 personal best, which he launched 55-11 feet, Anderson got a Big West qualifier this afternoon at 52-08.
Although windy, Ryan Donnelly (Jr.) opened up this season at 400m for the first time this morning at 10:15am. Colder than the sprinters tend to like it, Donnelly raced to sub 50 second lap finishing in 3rd at 49.51. He then came back at 4:25pm and in a howling wind of +6.2 m/s ran a 21.76 in the 200m good for 4th place.
