SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara men's volleyball will be well represented at the 2010 Pan American Cup, which takes place May 24-29 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
McLaughlin, who recently wrapped up his second season as head coach of the Gauchos, served as Team USA's head coach when it topped Canada to win the 2009 Pan Am Cup in Chiapas, Mexico. The U.S. rolled to a perfect 4-0 record last year.
Brunner, a 6-7 middle blocker, played at UCSB from 2005-08 and earned AVCA First Team All-American honors as a junior. The Ridgefield, Conn. native is sixth on the school's career blocks list and ninth in all-time kills.
McGuire, a 6-0 libero out of Manhattan Beach, Calif., just completed his junior season with the Gauchos. A 2010 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Honorable Mention pick, he set a UCSB single season record with 322 digs. McGuire ranked in the top 10 nationally in total digs and digs per set in 2010 and is currently fifth in career digs in UCSB program history. He serves as captain of the U.S. National B Team.
Eight players on this year's 14-man roster have competed on past A2 and/or U.S. National Teams.
Teams competing this year are: Brazil, Colombia and Canada in Pool A; Puerto Rico, Mexico and the United States in Pool B; and Dominican Republic, Argentina and Venezuela in Pool C.
The U.S. will see its first action on Tuesday, May 25 in pool play against Mexico.
The United States is the two-time defending champion of the Pan American Cup and has won the title three times since its inception in 2006. Mexico won in 2007.

Season tickets for the 2010 Gaucho men's soccer season are on sale now and this year's packages include tickets for the 2010 College Cup, being hosted by UCSB on Dec. 10-12 at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium. Season tickets start at just $75 and include one ticket to all home men and women's regular season games and one College Cup All Session ticket. UCSB staff and faculty can purchase their season tickets for a reduced rate of $50.
