Rounding out the Weekend
In last weekend's Northern California Invitational, the Gauchos split their contests on both days of competition to finish 2-2.

On day one of the tournament, UCSB opened the NorCaI Invite with a comfortable 11-4 win over No. 12 UC Davis (5-4) to improve their record to a perfect 7-0.  Moving forward in the winners' bracket, the Gauchos met host and eventual third-place winner No. 4 Stanford (3-1), which handed UCSB its first loss of the season in a tight 8-7 battle to conclude day one action.

After falling into the losers' bracket, the Gauchos faced and defeated then-ranked No. 8 Pepperdine (5-2) with an 8-4 victory to advance for competition in the fifth-place game against then-ranked No. 6 UC Irvine (10-1).  In a nail-biting 12-11 overtime loss, UCSB picked up its second defeat of the season and concluded the NorCal Invite with a sixth-place finish.

Where are They Now?
Entering the tournament with a perfect 39-0 record, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation teams shook up the statistics by granting many of their own conference mates their first losses of the season.  The conference now moves into week four of non-conference play with an overall 62-13 record.

Three weekends of action underway, UCSB is showing well within the MPSF statistics, ranking third for goals per game - averaging 14.90 with a total of 149 goals.  Remaining on top for the Gauchos, junior Matt Gronow leads the team in scoring with 24 goals on the season, averaging 2.40 goals per game to place him 13th amongst the MPSF's top scorers.  Junior Evan Dellinger reigns a close second with 23 goals on the season, averaging 2.11 goals per games to rank 14th amongst the MPSF scorers.   Also in the upper half of the conference statistics, UCSB's defense places fourth for goals against per game with an average of 6.40 allowed per game.  Senior Myles Christian leads with 66 goalie saves, a 10.56 goals against average, to round out the top four MPSF goalkeepers.
