PALO ALTO, Calif. - No. 4 Stanford and No. 8 UC Santa Barbara battled through a televised non-conference match on Saturday and, in the end, the Cardinal walked away with an 11-5 win.

UCSB received goals from Cole Brosnan, Reed Cotterill, Jacob Halle, Shane Hauschild, and Adam Lott, but it wasn't enough as Stanford cruised to the win.

Hauschild, a product of nearby San Marcos High School, opened the scoring to give UCSB an early 1-0 advantage. However, the Cardinal quickly answered back with two goals of their own to take lead 2-1 entering the second quarter. At the beginning of the second quarter, Halle scored at the 7:33 mark to tie the score at 2-2.

The Cardinal, however, answered with a three goal run that gave them the lead 5-2 entering the halftime break.

In the second half, the Gauchos played well defensively, but they couldn't muster enough offense to flip the score.

Stanford continued to rally and, ultimately, posted the 11-5 victory.

The Gauchos will travel to Long Beach State for a Golden Coast Conference match on Oct. 20 before returning to Campus Pool for a Friday, Oct. 27 match against UC Irvine. The contest against the Anteaters will start at 3:00 p.m.
